The last 72hrs have been brutal. Doing Programming Languages this quarter and we have to write parsers. First assignment was a breeze, hacked up an arithmetic parser in hours. Felt cool. 2nd one, to build literally a language. For the first time in 17yrs in writing Java code (1)
.it failed me. I spent a week hacking away trying to figure out how to parse the grammar. It was just too hard. There was Intel full time work to sort out. Now in charge of some new set of workloads everyone iswaiting for. Then I had an ML assignment lurking in the corner (2)
An extension was given. Yes!!. Sunday I finally finished and compiled. Yes. Then ran, then it crashes. Just blows up. Messed up the parsing after like 11 classes to do magic. Struggled into Monday then I give up. Then I decided to check Haskell. Huh, you can define a grammar (3)
And it has an inbuilt parser. Well what do you know. Oh, this language can do it in hours. From simple hello world up to a parser thanks to online sources. Compilation. Runs tests, passes some and fails some. I will submit it like dat. No be me kill Jesus. Oh I had time to (4)
Watch my Bosch on Amazon. I had to find a down time. I know why they call it PL now. Learn about other languages. Imagine all the time I would have saved if only. Time to learn Scala and Rust..and Haskell. The PhD saga continues. (5)
