if my memory serves me correctly, in the “black panther” marvel film, nakia was the only one who acted heroic in a way a socialist could call home about but folks often say, “killmonger was right.”

killmonger was just umar johnson with kobe bryant’s fitness plan but folks call him “radical.”

nakia was the only one talking about turning wakanda into an afrofuture cuba—a peaceful nation that freely helps its underserved neighbors with its research, resources, & technology.

now, we can have a conversation about how killmonger was designed to distort & demonize black radical politics by conflating it with black reactionary politics.

that would be true.

but unlike killmonger, nakia didn’t have the goal of instituting literal black imperialism.

i also feel like nakia is overlooked because she’s a black woman.
