What& #39;s the weirdest thing you& #39;ve ever seen for which you have no logical explanation? I& #39;m pretty sure I saw a yeti/werewolf/Jersey Devil/cryptid when I was 9 or 10 years old. It loped past our garage window, which was a solid 6 feet off the ground. Broad daylight. Suburban NJ.
I was putting on my shoes, getting ready to catch the school bus. I saw this *bizarre* shaggy reddish-brown shape out of the corner of my eye, running with a VERY strange gait. So I ran to the other window--which was over my head--and saw it continue loping around the house.
I could only see the top of its head through that very high window. (Head? Don& #39;t even know if it was a head.) At first I thought it was an impossibly tall man. I had almost like a prey response--I froze where I was and stood there for a solid minute.
To this day I wonder what the hell it was. Our house backed on to these very creepy woods (all developed now, if Google Maps is right). Huge old trees. Very quiet. Wasn& #39;t the only weird thing I ever saw, but it was the weird-est.
The only other creature I& #39;ve ever seen that moved like that is a bear. When they run, bears look almost like hunched-over humans running on all fours. It& #39;s uncanny. I& #39;ve seen them in the wild several times in CO. But this was WAY too tall to be a bear.
Somebody downthread suggested a moose. It would be a great relief if it was a moose (apparently they do exist in NJ??), but I& #39;d certainly never seen or heard of anybody else ever seeing one in that area.
