As a recruiting manager, I’ve interviewed and hired hundreds of recruiters and sourcers. Recruiting certs played no role in my decision to move forward in interviews. Further, I’ve seen zero correlation between certifications and job performance.
So then on that basis are certifications worthless? No, the value is mostly derived tho from the training not the cert itself. It’s about the knowledge you gain and then how/where you’re able to apply it.
So am I saying you shouldn’t get certified? This is more of an individual and personal financial decision. But I am saying be wary of promises made and the long term value of your certification. In my experience I’ve seen few examples where the benefits outweighed the costs
This sums up my feelings perfectly. (h/t @codinghorror) https://blog.codinghorror.com/do-certifications-matter/
