Rant Thread:

If it weren’t for Tamil women, Tamil youth would be turn off by the wild policing and taunting Tamil “nationalist” men seem to be so good at. If it weren’t for progressive Eela Tamils, we would have lost a lot more of our diaspora youth a long time ago.
If it weren’t for the progressive Eelam centered organizations that these same men try to slander, we wouldn’t have a safe space for diaspora Tamil kids to connect with, learn, and *understand* their histories.
Iyakkam accas and annas were disciplined because the Iyakkam was a military. What’s absurd is to hold the average civilian to the standards of Tamil heroes who gave up their life for *our freedom* — not for some dudes to police women on their Eelam identities based on what they
think is morally correct. You can choose to perceive what you think the Iyakkam wanted all you want because “you read books” but let’s make one thing clear— you don’t get to speak on behalf of the Iyakkam which means you do not get to tell Tamil kids what they can and can’t do
when comes to their flag and their identity. Disagree all you want but Eelam is theirs as much as it is yours. I respect and standby any young Tamil person who refuses to identify as Sri L*nkan and that flag. I respect the fact that their are young Tamils who were barely
infants during 2009 who are willing to take up public and mentally exhausting battles to stand up for their people and identity when they could EASILY call themselves L*ankan and call it a day. Who I don’t respect are the men who make it their *self-appointed* jobs to
drag and shit on young Tamil women when they themselves have no authority to speak on behalf of the Iyakkam, remain SILENT when S*nhala twitter comes for Tamil youth and brush shoulders with fake trash Insta pages that call Tamil women v*sais.
The truth is these people bark loudly because they don’t feel in control. That’s because they’re not in control. Shoutout to the young Tamil people who stand by our flag, nation, and people while others just make white noise. You’re the true changemakers.
Imagine thinking you’re preserving Eelam identity and Tamil culture by shit talking the very women on this platform fighting for it, whether it be standing up to S*nhala chauvinists, encouraging more people to identify with the Tamil flag, or learning to read/write Tamil, lmao.
