This guy, after a worker falls off a rickety, broken ladder supplied by a corrupt corporation: “This is precisely what he asked for when he chose to be an electrician.”

That tweet is the inevitable result of reclassifying nurses and doctors as heroic soldiers who enlisted in a war instead of seeing them as workers deserving of essential safety and rights that the public and our institutions have failed to provide.

Nurses and doctors ARE heroic, but they are not soldiers who “signed up” for war. They are workers who we’ve spent decades downloading increasingly impossible expectations onto through escalating cutbacks and the twin ideologies of austerity and privatization.
