Liberal Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein has shown leadership by announcing a $3 million support package for temporary visa holders in his state.

Why won’t his Federal Liberal counterparts do the same and extend Covid-19 support to temporary migrants trapped in 🇦🇺?
The Liberal Tasmanian Premier even called out @ScottMorrisonMP, @PeterDutton_MP and @AlanTudgeMP for saying “go home”.

“I want to say that I don't agree with the very simple message that temporary visa holders should just go home.” - Peter Gutwein
The reality is they can't go home right now. Borders are shut & international airlines are shutdown.

We risk prolonging the Covid-19 crisis if we ignore the 1.1 million people in 🇦🇺 on temporary visas because a virus does not check someone's visa status before it infects them.
We only have to look at Singapore who were successfully flattening the curve but have now had a resurgence in Covid-19 cases.

Last Sunday alone, 571 of 596 new coronavirus cases in Singapore were migrants- people unable to self-isolate because of their living conditions. https://twitter.com/time/status/1252576005669163009
It’s good to see the Tasmanian Premier step up where his Federal Liberal counterparts have failed.

Let’s not forget- @JoshFrydenberg & @anne_ruston have the power to extend JobKeeper and JobSeeker to temporary migrants trapped in Australia.

Why won’t they? #NoWorkerLeftBehind
