Why would you want to obfuscate trends for the sake of "solidarity"? Like yes I totally agree. Migrant workers should be part of the community. But the fact remains that as of right now, there IS a clear divide between interaction of locals and migrant workers.
Yes,we need to work on that. But not reporting these separate trends of infection would be LOUSY reporting when it's obviously there.
Also, these huge spikes in numbers are due to asymptomatic individuals being discovered due to aggressive testing of those who are in dorms and were in contact of those in dorms. Unless we are also aggressively testing the rest of the nation, how can we lump them together?
I really don't think this is about race or class or anything but simply reporting realities. Yes, it's not kind. And that's what we need to work on. But I don't think calling for numbers to be combined will be of use as of now, instead it'll cause even more panic and speculation
You know how some sgeans can be. The panic that a 1000 community cases will cause. The xenophobia, racism will JUMP OUT. The speculation will be rife. Who infected? Will affect me or not? It will not be productive. Migrant workers at high risk have been quarantined. Some comfort.
At the end of the day, things are phrased in this manner for clarity, not for hegemonic class structures. I think and I am also heartened to see more people wanting to integrate migrant workers into the community.
Let's start by not treating the Chinese workers badly because you can't understand what they say. Let's start by not ill treating your domestic workers, healthcare workers, your service staff. These people you meet and interact on the daily.
If you can't even do that then please la you're not human you're just a selfish piece of slime honestly
