But still worth reading. BC spent $4.5 b on docs in 2018. AB spent $5.2 b in 2018 - 30% more per capita. (CIHI NHEX D4). BC has around 12,500 docs, AB around 10,800. Our supply is a little higher so per doc, we paid 24% more. https://twitter.com/DrAmirPakdel/status/1251759496772218880">https://twitter.com/DrAmirPak...
BC docs are indeed getting a raise, to $4.9 b. In 2022. We& #39;re planning to spend $5.4 b this year, and with the pandemic we& #39;ll likely spend more. For 14% fewer docs. The BC deal pays nowhere near our current levels, even after all the increases in the next 3 years.
We& #39;ve never proposed to cut overall physician funding. We& #39;re supporting docs & patients in the pandemic by funding unlimited virtual visits, cancelling changes to complex modifiers, and suspending cuts to AHS stipends. And we& #39;re soon announcing more support for rural docs.
