As a former health insurance exec, nothing my old industry does shocks me - but this is close. @UHC execs are canceling contracts with doctors & raking in millions, during a pandemic. And now, the Trump admin is having them manage a multi-billion dollar pot of relief aid?! (1/7)
According to @politico, an old @UHC associate close to Trump is now overseeing this relief fund for UnitedHealth Group. This money is supposed to help hospitals struggling during #COVID19. Why is UnitedHealth even involved? And what will it pocket? (2/7) https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/18/unitedhealth-trump-coronavirus-recovery-funds-193716">https://www.politico.com/news/2020...
I was a health insurance executive for many years. I’ve never heard of anything like this. The U.S. government pays hospitals all the time. Why would they need to pay a third party -- a for-profit insurer — to help them do it this time? (3/7)
It’s not like @UHC needs more work - the company posted $5 billion in profits in 2019. @bobjherman found that United& #39;s top seven executives were paid nearly $170 million. (4/7) https://twitter.com/bobjherman/status/1251265757683634177">https://twitter.com/bobjherma...
While business is booming, United has been terminating its contracts with emergency room doctors across the country. They’re doing this in the middle of a pandemic, while doctors are risking their lives to save patients. (5/7)
. @UHC’s unconscionable, profit-driven terminations of contracts with ER doctors may lead to #COVID19 patients receiving surprise medical bills, or losing care altogether — because their doctors will suddenly be out of network. (6/7)
It& #39;s time to #StopUHCgreed, especially during this crisis. It’s simply bizarre & unconscionable that the Trump administration would have United manage billions in relief to hospitals.

Now, America& #39;s largest health insurer has yet another way to profit off the pandemic.
