Last night my friend @jperiodBK did a special Outkast tribute on IG live. Go check it out, and then come back to join me for a special #MusicSermon breaking down the elements of his Outkast Live mixtape, including the 'kast tracks and the joints he mixed in with them, and why. https://twitter.com/jperiodBK/status/1252664506800537600
And if you're unfamiliar with @jperiodBK and wondering if it's worth your time, browse through his work a bit - I promise it is.

Tonight's not a normal #MusicSermon, it's not even really one of our devotionals... it's something a little different.

Let me start by explaining why we're having any kind of sermon for a mixtape - it's because @jperiodBK isn't just a DJ, he's a storyteller.
Questlove has called J the most creative mixtape DJ he knows, and I personally appreciate that J doesn't just put together a mix of songs, but completely recreates tracks in surprising ways, while staying true to the spirit of the original.

Which brings us to Outkast ReFixed
Last night J played live version of his Outkast mix - with some new joints added in - on his IG live (jperdiobk - it's still up), and I'm going to take you through...let's call it a visual liner notes, of some the tracklist: the original cuts, the songs he added, and why.
I’m not going exact track-by-track, but one of the first songs in the mix is, appropriately, Da Art of Storytellin’
... which J mixed with one of the best examples of the art of hip hop storytellin’ (and an appropriate nod since Rick appears on “Da Art Of...”)
