life has been fucking tough lately but i’ve taken a lot of solace in the netflix series, “the repair shop”.
it’s pretty corny, but i can stomach anything delivered to me with a british accent (the show originally aired on the BBC).
if you were like me and spent many childhood hours watching PBS shows like “this old house” and “the new yankee workshop”, this will be right up your alley. bonus? soft toy experts Julie Tatchell & Amanda Middleditch.
the premise of the show is people bring in well loved family heirlooms (or similar items of significant sentimental value), and some number of the Esteemed Craftsmen of the workshop get to work on restoring and/or repairing the object.
of course any episode featuring the repair of a comfort object is incredible.
all the specialists are really personable (they are the recurring characters afterall) & WOW it sure does make my brain & body horny to watch extremely skilled craftsfolk work. shout out to: suzie the saddle expert (is that british for “leatherworker”?) the clock guy, previously
mentioned soft toy experts, and the very sweet & oh so handsome carpenter & cabinetmaker, Will.
turns out the clock guy (Steve) is the brother of the leatherworker (Suzie)!!
