Wow. Just WOW. Season 5 of #BetterCallSaul is now in the books and I think everyone can agree: that was something unforgettable. One of the best seasons of television, period.

I wanna say a few things, but there will prob-def be spoilers, so feel free to mute until you catch up!
First: the writing. There are usually 1 or 2 writers in every show I watch that I get really excited about when their time comes round. But SAUL? Every. Single. Writer. Is. Amazing. It’s a stacked roster, man. Like the ‘83 Celtics. All of them, veteran and rookies alike, are MVPs
(I hope you don’t google the ‘83 Celtics. I don’t know anything about baseball.)
Also first: the music. #DavePorter is an absolute genius. He’s done incredible work throughout the entire series. And last night’s finale? Holy god. I’m STILL sweating from that last act and that’s largely due to the music. (And some questionable string cheese.) BOW BEFORE DAVE!
First again: Sir #MarshallAdams who is not technically a knight, but nevertheless SLAYS. Dragons. Or something. I lost the metaphor. Point is: he’s a gd hero of the art. I hope he really DOES throw out every lens he’s used, because they’ll never have any greater purpose.
To begin with: the WHOLE CREW. They are probably not related by blood (I...would hope), but they are family. If you’re ever fortunate enough to step onto that set, you’ll know it. The love is real. And I honestly believe that’s one of the main reasons the show is so great.
And to start with: the cast. Holy sh**. They are unbearably talented. So bright I gotta wear MULTIPLE shades. This season in particular though, Bob Odinson and Rhea Emmyhorn were incredible beyond words. Wherever they go, from now until ♾, I will be there with a foam finger.
Okay, now some spoilery thoughts about this last episode and the season as a whole.
This season has, among many other things, seemed to meditate a good deal on reflection. Characters to themselves, to each other, situations, pasts and presents. It’s extraordinary to compare Jimmy/Saul, Kim, and Nacho to where they were at the premiere.
If you’re watching the show with Breaking Bad-tinted glasses it can be easy to forget how much action the last few episodes have seen. The shootouts in the desert and at Lalo’s place are HUGE. This may be a slow burn show (which I very much dig), but man... sh**’s on FIRE now.
A confession: I KNEW beyond a SHADOW of a DOUBT that I wasn’t in last night’s episode, but when Kim said she was going to try to catch Oakley at the courthouse, I got excited because maaaaaybe I forgot I filmed another scene? Don’t judge me. I gots the quarantine brain.
IMHO: the largely wordless performance by #MichaelMando in the minutes before the raid on Lalo’s was some of the best acting from anyone all season. Which is saying a LOT.
Finally: we were so worried about our favorite character getting killed, we didn’t even notice that the Kim we knew had been dying all season long. I’m so excited/terrified to see what happens as she continues to be reborn.
What a great finale.

What a great season.

What a great a show.

The final 13 episodes are coming. Until then, you know the drill: #stayhome , #staysafe, #washyourhands , and if you gotta touch that germ-infested phone, you #BetterCallSaul .

❤️⚖️❤️
