My sophomore year of college I strained my bicep. When I was cleared to throw again, I had the yips from which I’ve never truly recovered. I’m going to use this quarantine to become a plus BP thrower and take back my throwing arm.
April 21, 2020: Day 1
Pre-assessment day
Strike percentage: 33.8%

I didn’t use any implements to warm up, because I never really do. I’ll start as I begin training tomorrow, but I wanted to keep today as true pre-test.

My wife also threw. She was at 0%, so that helped my ego.
My wife recorded some throws while the dog ran around like a crazy person. Helps keep the yips around 😂

Ironically, I pitched low sidearm (almost sub) and played middle infield. But the yips showed up and have been relentless ever since. Hard mentally to not throw over the top.
April 22: addressing an over-the-top (often w/ accidental pre-loaded pronation) by dropping down & then back up again.

Only 30% strikes today, but you can see the progression from the 1st group of throws to the next (and a return to over-the-top yippiness on the final throw).
1 = airmail over the top
2 = sidearm
3 = return to more natural arm slot

Final goal (other than being able to throw it where I want it) is to be around a traditional 3/4 slot, which will provide hitters a more game-like incoming trajectory.
37% strikes today. Maintained a clear mind as much as possible by focusing all thoughts on the external goal of throwing it through the bucket. Arm path slightly better than where we started.
This also happened. Sadie really struggles to NOT go insane whenever someone is doing something that involves quick movements. Didn’t think she’d make that turn at the end.
