While we wait for Gov. Inslee's announcement tonight, I caught up with @MayorSpokane about possibly lifting some COVID-19 restrictions in eastern Washington.

She says this side of the state is vastly different than western Washington and a "slow reopening" should be considered.
Elected officials in the region spoke to Inslee on Friday about having different restrictions for this side of the state.

"We don't have big companies to boost our economy like Amazon, Microsoft and Boeing. Our backbone of our economy is small businesses," Woodward said.
Woodward says any decisions to reopen will be dependent on science and data, and reopening would slowly happen.

She says the hospitals here have not been overwhelmed, and the small rise in cases shows the impact of how well our response is working here.
Woodward also said eastern Washington wouldn't be afraid to "hit the pause button" if it were to reopen sooner and see a jump in cases.

"We don't want to compromise the ground we've already made," Woodward said.
Spokane Regional Health Dr. Bob Lutz talked about the chance of reopening the economy this morning.

"I wish I had an easy answer. I wish I could say tomorrow or next week, and what it's going to look like, but we don't know yet," Lutz said.
