Please do not discourage people from seeking critical supports during this time. If you have a medical issue that needs a doc, you should see one. If you are being abused, physically, sexually, verbally, or emotionally, you should seek help to leave.

And a columnist who is dismissive of emotional abuse and focused on getting a scared kid to be more grateful that his abusive parents are still feeding him has no place giving advice to anybody.
