Trump says restriction on green cards will take place for 60 days.

Extensions will be considered.
He said this suspension is aimed at preserving jobs for Americans, not immigrants.

It's "wrong and unjust for Americans to be replaced with new immigrant labor flown from abroad," Trump said.
"As we move forward, we will be more protective of [Americans]," Trump said, adding that "a short break from new immigration" will "conserve vital medical resources" and protect the "solvency of our health care system."
IMPORTANT: Regarding Trump's immigration suspension, the White House keeps pointing to a recent poll conducted 12 days ago.

The poll– which surveyed 1,005 people– showed that 79% of the people polled said the gov should "temporarily stop immigration from all other countries."
The poll was conducted by @ipsosus. It asked people what actions the government should take in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.

They did the study in two waves: March 10-11 and April 9-10. Here's the methodology.
Looks like the president's policy-making decisions could be based on data from 1,005 people polled online.

Regarding immigrants currently in the U.S. with court dates in the works:

"They won't have to leave until they go through that process," Trump said.
Worth noting: 1,000 people is the sample size for standard national polls. That will have a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.
Trump: the farmers "will not be affected by this at all."
Trump says he plans on signing the executive order on Wednesday and that it's still being drafted.

A second executive order is possible, though no details (on either orders) were provided.
