Reed Hastings opens up saying, "It's a terrible tragedy for the world...we too are really unsure of what the future brings."

He's in a bedroom, and I am obsessed with where the ladder leads.
Ted's kitchen is so nice.

"It's been tough work, mostly getting a lot of works doing work they've never done befooe from places they've never done it before...it's an incredible testimony to the innovation that within days we had post-production up and running remotely..."
Reed: "The internet is growing, it’s a bigger part of people’s lives — thankfully. People want entertainment...Will internet entertainment be more important over the next five years? Nothing's changed in that."
Netflix's Greg Peters: "We’re not even thinking of price increases. What’s going around the world is dominating our thoughts and considerations. We want to continue to be there and provide entertainment.”
Ted Sarandos on the big question of the hour: "Our 2020 slate of series and films are largely shot and are in post-production in remote locations all around the world. We’re actually pretty deep in our 2021 slate. We don’t intend on moving things around.”
Sarandos: "We've experimented with release schedules and continue experimenting." Points to Love is Blind which saw a tremendous success with staggering release.

'We believe that consumers like the control of all at once, but we keep testing to see if it impacts the viewing"
Sarandos: "We’re currently in production in Iceland and Korea and taking those key learnings and applying them to plans for productions around the world."

Didn't realize they were still in production there.

"We're very aggressive about testing and tracking early."
Spencer: "We'll actually have more Netflix original branded titles this year than last year."
Ted Sarandos on Tiger King: "We knew right out of the gate, you could feel it in the social media excitement. An unbelievably well timed distraction to give people something to talk about that wasn’t in the headlines.”
Sarandos: Our goal is we want to make your favorite show. For some that’s high pedigree drama, for others that’s home reno. Beyond true crime and competition space, we’re pushing into home improvement & reality space. Full complement of unscripted as we continue expanding into it
Sarandos: “Michael Jordan and team behind the film were very excited to have Netflix involved and encouraged ESPN to have those conversations..we saw similar enormous viewing around the world. It’s been a win-win for us and ESPN”

I said this would be a thing in Slack this week.
Sarandos points out that its Top 10 showcase how popular Netflix originals are.

And I'm not here to feed conspiracy, but this is the list that Netflix...is creating...based on data and internal promotion and marketing...that Netflix handles.

The Top 10 is not The Box Office.
Ooh, Disney+ and Hotstar question.

Greg: "We have been working really, really hard to make our offering in India more attractive to members and members-to-be."

Ted: "We've seen a big growth in viewing in India and have had big success with local originals there as well."
Q about streaming wars:

Reed: "I'm so impressed by Disney+'s execution. Over 20 years of watching different businesses, I've never seen such a good execution of the incumbent learning the new way and mastering it. And then to have them achieve over 50M in six months,my hat's off
Reed: "Are we going to increase our kids, family and animation offering, you bet."

Somewhere, Bob Bakish, not to be outdone, is yelling that Nickelodeon also has shows.
Ted: "If you see how its blowing up the Top 10 list, [insert Netflix Original series] is definitely one to check out."

Imagine if Netflix gave numbers? So we could independently verify?

I trust that any Netflix Original in the top spot is being watched. Placement is everything.
