still missing when computers were beige and stylish instead of black & RGB
I was looking through ebay's results for "control panel" un the vintage computer section.

think my next gaming PC will have this as the front panel
this one apparently went around an 8" floppy drive
I like it! I've always wanted to set my floppy drive to SEMIAUTOMATIC
a nice little controller from Chicago Laser Systems
This is apparently from some kind of printer.
It's got an QWERTY keyboard, at least (rather than alphabetical or that weird GCODE one) but it looks like it's flat and terrible.
I just want a controller like this.
A bunch of (optionally lit) buttons, a keyswitch, a big HALT button, and some dials.
this is one of those ones that's ugly, but in a sort of beautiful-ugly way?
This fucker did Serious Work, a lot of it.
oh my god look at all these indicators
it's beautiful. I love it.
this is nice. A lot of dials, then a numpad WITH A REALLY TERRIBLE LAYOUT, and some 7-segment LEDs.
This is another nice one.
Small on the physical buttons, but makes up for it by having (nearly) all the membrane buttons be neat and iconographic instead of just being uppercase industry terms like "FLOW B".
And it's got a screen. Which is nice.
The back is interesting. There's some RAM up there... and guessing from some of those connectors (especially the PC104 one) that this is actually a full PC!
I'd love to tear it down to find out, but the price is $2,950.20 OBO and I doubt they'll take 20$
aww, yeah! who else wants a big dial that can be set to nine different icons?
What do they mean? WHO CAN SAY?

also I love the 3-axes buttons in the bottom-middle. Beautiful.
please vote for me so I can make this kind of keyboard layout FUCKING ILLEGAL
this is a similar layout but with PHYSICAL BUTTONS and that left part is a protective cover for a CRT and dear god it's beautiful, I love it
a lot of these look like they'd be a ton of fun and I want to see them better but they took like 2 pictures, at low res, from 10 feet away
TRANSFER HEAD BLOW, everyone.

also, "transcribe dishes squeeze"? YOU'RE JUST PICKING RANDOM WORDS, ADMIT IT
oh wow, I think this one still has the CRT in it.
imagine converting this into a PC... that'd be fun.

keyboard layout: still insane
oh yeah, four separate keyswitches, sexy.
this one just combines all the great ideas of the previous ones.
I'm putting this on my christmas list
I wish this one had better pictures! it's got a little tilted monitor (CRT, maybe?), and a FLOPPY DRIVE!
sexy.
it's always interesting to see how destroyed some of these buttons are.
they used THE FUCK out of these buttons, which were designed for industrial use in the first place.
I like the little joystick this one has.
this one would be handy if you were making a sci-fi show.
You could both use it as a prop, and then generate technobable by just reading off labels.
DISENAGE THE DATA LOCK!
REVERSE THE JOG FEED OVERRIDE!
SPINDLE SPEED TO HIGH.
RESET THE Y ZERO POSITION!
there's nothing that's better to type on than an alphabetical vertically oriented membrane button keyboard
another alphabetical one, but the way they colored the digits differently makes me try to read them separately, which is wrong.

Also, check out those BOTTOM TO TOP F-keys!
wow, this one actually looks like it wouldn't be bad to type on!

I mean, the fact that it's vertically mounted is not great, but otherwise, seems mostly fine?
this one is nice but it could really do with some more three letter acronyms.

Like, yes, of course I want to turn on SRN, maybe MRX, and certainly ZNG, but what about QXL? it's not on there!

also: CBT button. Insert your own joke here.
about cognitive behavioral therapy, of course.
oh that's even better! One of those classic /NGXZU keyboard layouts, you know?

In case of Tailstock Spindle, set all controls to ZERO RETURN
one of these controls is just "sinewave percent" and it can be 100%, 25 (not 25%, just 25), or "low"

what even does that mean
STATUS: ORT
ahh, ultrasounds.
someday I will have an ultrasound keyboard.

they're so great.
so many knobs, trackballs, and sliders.
