I GOT AN IDEA IN THE SHOWER FOR RA-ELI X HUMMINGBIRD
The story is this:

Once upon a time, there was a pharaoh who was beloved by all, including the gods. To honor this just and righteous pharaoh, Ra presented him with a golden and bejeweled falcon as a gift as a show of favoritism among all other pharaohs.
Seeing this gift that had been bestowed upon the pharaoh, many in his court became jealous and desired the golden falcon as a trophy. It now represented the power of the pharaoh and whoever held it would be seen as the rightful ruler.
One such noble obtained the aid of a powerful witch to place a curse of death on the pharaoh so that he would be weakened enough for a coup. The witch did this and the cursed pharaoh grew ill and cold, no longer being as shining as he was before.
As the cursed pharaoh withered beneath the curse, the noble made his move to kill the pharaoh and take the kingdom for his own. However, the cursed pharaoh knew of this treason and sent the golden falcon far away to be hidden in another land.
On the eve when the nobleman came to slay the cursed pharaoh, Ra came down in the form of half-man, half-falcon to stop the murder from happening. He didn't see the men waiting for such intervention and Ra was restrained as the nobleman slayed the pharaoh.
Enraged and filled of sorrow, Ra freed himself from the grasp of the nobleman's goons, but not unscathed. The nobleman tore from Ra's back one of his wings as the god rushed to embrace the murdered pharaoh. He took the body with him to the sky.
Time jump to circa 1920. Professor Iris has been telling his less than enthusiastic crew of misfit treasure hunters this lovely tale of Ra's gift of a golden falcon to an unnamed pharaoh. This is the item they've come all the way to Egypt to obtain.
They've been searching inside an ancient buried temple for what feels like days without having seen the sun, navigating by torchlight through the maze-like structure to find this mythological treasure that Professor Iris has been hunting for decades.
The least enthusiastic of this group is a mercenary, code named Hummingbird due to him short stature and quick reflexes. As they search, the party eventually rests for what seems to be their third night in this ancient dungeon while Hummingbird keeps watch.
There's no need for Hummingbird to keep watch, but it's in his nature to do so. While the others rest, he checks the perimeter to find a secret passage hidden in a nearby corridor wall. Curious, and knowing nothing will happen, he investigates the passageway.
At the end of the small passageway is a broken wall which opens to a large, cavernous room. At the center of the room is what appears to be a the object they've been looking for: the golden falcon. Curiosity finding the better of him, he goes into the room.
He checks for traps before he approaches the falcon, which is seated on a pedestal like a throne. He investigates further for traps, finding that none are there, and tentatively touches the ancient relic, brushing away the dust from its head.
He hears a sound from somewhere in the cavern and whirls around, expecting a fight, but nothing's there. He turns to the falcon again to find that it's missing. In its place is a strange man standing where the pedestal once was and the bird is on his shoulder.
Hummingbird keeps his guard up as he stares at the man, sizing him up. The man is dressed in linen robes and drenched in molten gold, his body bound in thorns, and top his head in an ornate headdress similar to ones he'd seen on Egyptian statuary.
The man animates the falcon, bringing it to life before Hummingbird's eyes and speaks inside the mercenary's head, "You look so much like him. I hoped that you were him, yet you are not. I am Ra and you have found my falcon."
And that's all I've got for now. I'll probably write this later when I have time. For now, you'll have to live with this teaser.
