THE LAST KNIGHT owns bc it’s essentially the plot/structure (and even themes) of THE FIFTH ELEMENT but with Bay doing a bunch of insane Jack Kirby homages

TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT weordly ends up functioning pretty well for acting & reacting to climate change and decaying late capitalism. The damage is done, and the end is inevitable, but collective action to *at least* buy time is still preferable to wallowing in misanthropy.

I honestly feel that throughout the 2010s we were robbed of genuine spectacle in most mainstream blockbusters. THE LAST KNIGHT is actually visually astonishing. One of the most interesting things Bay does is constantly shift the aspect ratio with a freestyle but deliberate sense.
