A lesson I have learned many times in my 20 years as a marketplace investor is that aggregating demand is the one & only key. Aggregating supply is not the hard part, & having differentiated supply or thinking because you own supply you can enter the market is misplaced thinking. https://twitter.com/Techmeme/status/1252697716712497160
As so, I am super skeptical of those that thinks because their autonomous car is a little better (or even a lot) that they can suddenly prop up a ride-sharing service is short-sighted. Which seems the going assumption for the majority of them. Time will tell (a very long time).
What's more, I would love to see the DCF model for the vendor that thinks this way. Want to prop up a ride-sharing service? What do you need? 1mm cars? 1mm*$100K = $100B! Oh yeah, and the burn rate for the next ten years until the tech is ready. Not realistic.
