Will I be spending lock down Saturday making a thread of every reference to the state of Gaelic in Perthshire parishes from the Old Statistical Account 1791-99? In the meantime @GaelicInFife @molach95 i found a really interesting reference to Fife from the report for Dron in 1793
" No Gaelic is spoken here..but is said to have been the common language ...through the whole county of Fife not above 2 or 3 generations back." He goes on to say to relay an anecdote of a contemporary speaking to an old man, who had Gaelic, saying in his youth it was
"almost the universal language of Fife" so an old man in 1793 who, when he was young, spoke to an old man with Gaelic. So no more than 100 years back from 1793 when "the universal language of Fife"
