It is INSANE that a national testing program is being framed as a concession to congressional Democrats.

It is even more insane that it might be true: yes, Trump should WANT testing. But his repeated view is he doesn't want anything that leads to higher confirmed case numbers.

The question of what the correct negotiating strategy is with a completely reckless partner who is also the party the public will hold politically responsible for failure is...complex.

But also: this isn't just a political question. Absent testing, real people will die. They will lose loved ones. The economy will be broken, and so will many who depend on it, for longer.
