THREAD: On my kes —

I stopped growing my kes due to pressure from relatives.

My hair was too long & thick.
The hair on my legs visible when I wore mid length skirts.
Eyebrows too bushy.

"Ano iisipin ng ibang tao?" is the Tagalog version of "Log kya kahenge?"
Well fuck what will people think or say, you know? My Sikhi & sangat empower me.

My value is not determined by how attractive you find me. I don't owe anyone, especially any boy, shaved legs. Waxed eyebrows. Hairless arms.
I will respect myself & Waheguru ji's creation & allow my hair to grow. There is nothing more natural.

Cutting my hair just feels... wrong. I forced myself to pick up that razor as I was concerned with other people's standards of beauty. Which don't matter!
So I'm keeping my kes. Beginning today.

Many of you Kaurs on here have inspired me to do so.

I'm embracing my identity as a Kaur.

Thank you all for empowering me.
To those relatives —

My long, thick, wavy (& sometimes tangled) hair is my mane. You only wish you could grow one like it.

I see my unibrow almost like bridge between two worlds. & at least I don't have to draw them on with a pencil.

ok bye thanks
