NEW: I found data showing that the #unemployment trust fund balances in EVERY state in the U.S. dropped from 4/1-4/16, EXCEPT in #Florida, where the fund actually took in more money than it paid out.
Florida's #unemployment trust fund began the month at $4,076,442,840. By April 16th, it had increased to $4,090,236,836. That's a jump of more than $13-million when you'd expect the fund to be dwindling from jobless benefits payments to hundreds of thousands out of work. #WESH
Compare that to the #unemployment trust funds in other big states:
California: down $300,222,526
Texas: down $282,300,533
New York: down $862,327,902
The latest data from @FLDEO shows that while payments are going out more frequently now, the state has still only paid about $46-million in benefits. More money came into the #unemployment trust fund from employers than was paid out to the thousands who lost their jobs. #WESH
