Reviewing #covid19AB data after delving into @Cargill outbreak in High River(Calgary zone). Lots to unpack here. Look at ages of pts confirmed as +ve. There are 13 pages of screenshots for THE LAST 2 DAYS alone for Calgary zone. With more to come. /1
We as society must do better for our essential workers. Provide & fund a safe place to be able to isolate. Hold corporations accountable to ensure safety for their workers. Use cultural & language brokers to educate on public health measures. /2
When these pts need medical care, we need to help them navigate the healthcare system. Hopefully, when they recover, they will be handed over to their #medicalhome seamlessly where we can ensure their ongoing wellness, including their families & their SDOH. /3
I, along w my clinic partners, have the privilege of caring for refugee pts. Navigating Canadian life & the system is FOUNDATIONAL to our care of them. #Familymed will need resources to increase support of these ppl after COVID trauma. #primarycare cuts will hinder this/4 #ableg
For those who don't think COVID19 affects all ages, look at these demographics again. We need more data re racial & economic info to really understand the disparities that #covid19 is highlighting. I hope society will show compassion & empathy in speaking up. @doreen_rabi #ableg
For those who can physically distance, I hope you can maintain economic stability by working at home or via COVID financial supports avail & sincerely hope that this will improve quickly after this nightmare while you #StayHomeStaySafe now. #weinthistogether /6
Pls consider how we can support those who can't speak up for SAFE work. I've had too many pts in past few weeks in tears re fear to speak up, while acutely fearing for their own & family's health. I've written letters to employers to advocate for pts;afraid they're being ignored
