I know I did not have to pour more depressing news on you—but my vision is ultimately hopeful. Our entire world is wounded, and there is always room for correcting course and learning. We are ALL in this together, which is also why I do not discount one person.

I treat murderers and rapists (really I do, almost exclusively). In humanity’s darkest moments, we discover in us breathtaking potential. This is what I find worthwhile. There is no reason to settle; settling makes us compromise, allows corruption, and gives the edge to evil.

Avoiding problems does not make us stronger. Confronting them, solving a little at a time, whatever we can manage, and overcoming—this is what makes us stronger. We then encounter, a little at a time, our almost limitless capabilities.
