You can't just buy stuff and give it to someone as a present. Either buy someone a present, or give them nothing! or at least cash!

Someone gave him a spatula from the dollar store. A spatula! From the dollar store!!! He didn't need a spatula, and is not in any dire financial situation that would have prevented him from getting his own damn DOLLAR STORE SPATULA and they know this.

If they'd just given him the $1.25 he'd be nearly halfway there to buying himself breakfast at Bon's.
