Musicians looking to get paid for at-home performances have found an unlikely lifeline in StageIt, a primitive live-streaming platform that was on its last legs before coronavirus.

StageIt amassed $8k in revenue from 1/1 to 3/10, but went on to earn $1.5M the rest of that month. Old 97s’ Rhett Miller has had great success on the platform, and acts like Snail Mail and Beach Bunny recently played its digital festival  Uncancelled.

But founder and owner Evan Lowenstein (formerly of boy band twins Evan And Jaron) says StageIt may not be long for this world: “Our site is being held together with duct tape right now.” https://bit.ly/3bu2noa ">https://bit.ly/3bu2noa&q...
Incidentally, Lowenstein is also Kevin Spacey’s live-in manager and was responsible for the disgraced actor’s infamous “Let Me Be Frank” video.

He didn’t want to talk to us about that.
