When I asked this question I was honestly wondering if I was overthinking something - in this case accidentally endorsing white supremacy. If this poll had come back with less than 1% "Best not" responses then I would have concluded that I was. Not the case. Thread

It isn't acceptable to put questions of privilege (in this case whiteness and an anglo-centric interpretation of the world) to a "democratic" vote.

I'd like to very deeply apologise to anyone who was upset and/or if my poll implied anything other than a survey of responses. I would *never* have made my decisions based on the percentage / majority response but I see how the phrasing looked like I might have.

On the upside, if a few more folks know about the white power symbol and how it can be used, then I'm fine with looking a little silly and thoughtless. There have only been a few responses that have tried to argue against the vast majority and they are worrying, saddening, and a little glimpse outside of my usual supportive twitter bubble to the appalling mess that lies beneath.
