Jujutsu Kaisen: 𝙇𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨

(A thread giving my understanding of how Gojo Satoru’s cursed technique, Limitless, functions for those that need to clear up confusion. Spoilers up to the Star Plasma Vessel arc)
Hello! Some of you may have seen me from several Tower of God threads I’ve recently bombed the timeline with😂 But that’s not the series we’re looking at today. This time we’ll look at my favorite ongoing shonen, JJK, and its most powerful character, Gojo Satoru.
As we all know, his Jujutsu technique is the infamous “Limitless Cursed Technique”, power thats taken him to the top of the sorcerer society in terms of strength. Theres much going on with this ability underneath the surface, though.
When starting JJK, I perceived Gojo’s power as nothing but spatial manipulation. And while that’s true in a sense, the specifics behind how this manipulation of space occurs is incredible to think about.
Everything related to limitless is based off a system of infinite imaginary numbers. The “Blue” skill hes used to lessen the distance between two set points is the “subtraction” of these numbers, you could say (although later, I will have to refer to them as negative integers).
For instance, if there were 100 digits between Gojo and his opponent, he could erase those digits in an instant, and pull his target straight to his location. He could even subtract, but stop at the number ‘45’. The total distance between the two just wouldn’t be covered.
After the Blue technique comes its opposite “Red”. This ability is a result of reversal Jutsushiki (for anyone who doesn’t know this term’s significance in the JJK verse, it’s basically smashing cursed energy together [negative x negative] to come out with a positive product)
Just as Blue can be seen as a subtraction of space, Red can be seen as an ‘addition’ of space; Adding the amount of numbers between two set points (1+2+3, etc...) The space increase is shown as a ray of energy that pushes an object away at high speeds.
Now comes what can be seen as the combination of these two abilities, “Hollow Purple”. Or simply, a technique that DELETES. This is where I’ll refer to the numbers used for Blue as negetive integers.
I stated that Blue is a subtraction of digits, but it can also be seen as “space occupied by negetive numbers”... which is impossible (and therefore, that space decreases). Red, then, can be looked at as space occupied by positive numbers.
Purple is putting those positive and negative numbers together, to make them “cancel out”. A deletion of any matter that occupies space. With it, he completely destroyed a large portion of the durable Toji Zenin’s body, killing him in one shot, and tore straight through a forest.
Aside from his techniques derived from mathematical operations, there also exists the simple ability at his disposal of creating an impenetrable field around himself that hes used to completely shrug off attacks. Otherwise known as “The Infinity”
It uses the same number principal. Gojo simply keeps the imaginary digits between him and another substance/target at anything above zero, and they cant touch him (unless he decides to switch limitless off, but hes grown adept at using it subconsciously.)
It’s good to note that these numbers dont have to be whole either. Even if there were .00001 digits between Gojo and something else: that something CANNOT and WILL not reach him. The only time where one can touch his body is if he’s willingly let them by stopping his technique.
True to its name, there are an infinite amount of numbers between one and zero. Change the number .00001 to .000000000000000000057, and infinity still applies.
Although Limitless is hard to grasp without paying attention, (and possibly without a bit of research, too😂) when understood you start to see its not exactly “complicated”. Just jampacked. I hoped I presented this idea clearly, and people learned from it. Ty for reading🙏🏽
