A lot of people think that when you are dealing with Covid-19 patients that you wear the whole long blue apron with FFP3 or equivalent masks etc that was at the start of all this but now that's only for those who are doing aerosol generating procedures
3 weeks ago, we (who don't work in ITU or CCU) were told the above policy, we were also told that visors/goggles were reusable and shared between whoever goes into Covid positive/confirmed rooms..
The rest (apron, mask and gloves) get thrown away (single use only)

A week ago policy slightly changed to gloves and apron are single use only so get thrown away with each patient and visors/goggles are shared/reused and surgical masks are sessional used (more than 1 patient including suspect/confirmed Covids)
I've worked in the NHS for many years and my job although only lowly graded/paid has always been a high risk procedural job, and I've personally never known infection control to be so lax..
This virus is so very infectious, it is a virus where even people who don't do procedures on people (caterers/cleaners) still have to wear masks and goggles/visors to enter a room, one where in outpatients you constantly have to wear full PPE even in green zones..
Some Doctors and nurses are shocked that our department are still doing procedures on Covid patients saying that the less people exposed to them the better, and because they are only dealing with those on their ward they are seeing less Covids than what we do.
I love my job, I love my collegues, I am proud to work for the NHS but I won't be silent when I see MPs making out there's enough PPE for highly infectious viruses etc!
