why do Europeans hate young American citizens. like the vast majority of us haven't don't shit to you, our voting system disenfranchises us and we have almost zero actual say in our government

if our viewpoints are "american-centric", consider that many Americans have never ever been to another country and many won't in their lifetimes. Our schools purposefully don't teach us about other countries unless it involves us and even then we are taught in a boastful way

like, maybe, just maybe consider that American teenagers are getting fed to the slaughter right now and signing their lives away because they have to

For any non-US folks who don't get how our college system works:

So you've decided not to go to a 4 year college. Here are your options:

(1) Community college - you will still be paying a hefty sum, and you will probably need to transfer eventually to a 4 year college anyway.

(2) Trade school (aka a specific school or a community college program for a specific job) - Great option but this gives you literally no guarantee of the job you want. Many of these jobs are grueling and often either have weird hours or extensive physical labor.

Before I continue, not a SINGLE TIME have I said that it's OK for Americans to think down on other countries, but weirdly enough I already have Europeans calling me stupid in my mentions even after I've talked about election disenfranchisement

(3) Go into the workforce without a degree or trade of any kind:

You're going to be working either at poverty level wages working for business or retail or hospitality or maybe if you're lucky, you get a better job.

NONE of these three options promise you a job.

None of them.

But a lot of kids go with the option of going to a 4 year school because they have to make this life-altering decision is about like 6 months all while at the age of 18.

My final points are:

Stop making fun of literal kids for not "making the right choice" in regards to their educations and their futures and also consider that there are impoverished Americans who have never experienced another STATE, let alone another COUNTRY.

American-pride is very silly and not good.

But consider that if you encounter a kind American who doesn't understand that "hey, things work differently in other places" it's probably a product of poor education and just sheer ignorance because we don't travel to other countries.

And idk making fun of poor people because they've never been to another country seems really weird folks
