Posting a thread of my top 10 favorite players in this year’s draft class. I apologize for any sloppiness, I haven’t done this in awhile.
10. Davion Taylor, LB, Colorado:
Taylor caught my eye as an supremely athletic, rangy, and reactive linebacker. He’s still raw to the position (no real HS experience and played safety in JUCO). Still learning, but at rapid pace for two years in Boulder.

Taylor is REALLY fast (ran sub 4.4 at the combine), and it translates into game speed. A former track star as well.
Taylor displayed light bounce on his feet on tape. At times caught in the mud, but usually resulted in positive angle taking and closing tackle speed.

Another display of tremendous closing speed, Taylor is a bullet in open space. To close 8+ yards on a simple cross dump and STILL prevent the first down blew my mind.
Davion Taylor reacts sharply, especially to designed outside plays.

Similar thing, this time on a quick swing.
This time it’s not as smooth since the right hand gets caught in the shoulder pad off engagement, but Taylor controlled leverage with the arm lock and drive. Imitated the contact too, the No.2 had no chance at a successful block.

Initially bad, but ended v good.

Fortunately quick hips and closing speed save the day. Taylor recovers and knocks down the ball last second, great effort.

Overall, Davion Taylor excites me as a 4-3 OLB who holds ridiculous upside. A quick adapter, who will benefit from being coached patience and gap cognizance at the next level.
He’ll be a versatile rotational piece for a team in the mid rounds, and could really blossom in time.
