Almost done my MPP classes! I’ve learned so much this year. Mostly that policy is hard. In my previous master's degree (psychology), I learned that you don’t bother with things you can’t cleanly define and measure.

In policy, you don’t have the luxury of ignoring inconvenient topics because at the extreme end, people lose their lives or livelihoods if you do. So, you do your best to define elusive concepts, measure them with whatever tools you have and try to make a positive impact.

And despite your best attempt, you’ll get criticized for your approach, and that criticism is warranted, and you should accept it and endeavour to do better. Sigh... ‘tis a humbling profession
