I see you're all excited about Stanley Tucci making cocktails, but he just shook his Negroni and now I'M shook
1) Drinks with only alcohol are stirred for proper dilution without making the drink cloudy. You can see his result is not clear. For shame.
2) Martini & Rossi, while not my fave, is completely fine in a Negroni. Maybe a bit thin, but the sweetness does its job cutting the bitterness of the Campari.
3) Carpano Antica, while good, is hugely overrated and, IM(NSH)O, terrible for a Negroni. I'm a Dolin man.
4) Negronis are a GREAT starter cocktail for people making at home. The ingredients are at any liquor store. The proportions are simple--equal parts each. They batch very well. And you can make variations pretty easily with other bitter ingredients or sweet ingredients.
5) Finally, let me say that the Negroni is the perfect cocktail, and I'm sorry I ever called them bitter and gross. That was me who was bitter and gross. @mcamnitzer, I am sorry for ever not believing.
