Baker: Non-emergency day care ordered shut through June 29.
Polito: State deferring payment on non-interest loans for roughly 12,000 college grads.
Sudders: State has stopped sending test kits to nursing homes, because after it sent 14,000, only got 4,000 back. Will continue sending a National Guard mobile test lab to nursing homes as needed.
Baker said that educators wanted to see their kids before the end of the year, but in the end, there just was not enough data to figure out how to do it safely - think of all the kids piling on top of each other on school buses as just one example, he said.
Baker: "There wasn't really a way to make this work at this particular point in time." And remote education is showing some positive results.
Education Sec. James Peyser: "At the end of the day we're going to err on the side of safety" for both kids and educators.
Peyser: MA will come out of this better than many other states because "In my opinion, we have the best teachers and principals in the country."
Peyser: Planning for re-opening schools in the fall already under way - with such possible steps as temperature checking students, keeping desks 6 feet away, staggering hours, based on evidence from other countries that have re-opened schools.
Baker credits MA residents taking social distancing, stay at homing, disinfecting, etc. to heart in ensuring that while Covid-19 is bad here, it's nowhere near as bad as initial projections showed.
Baker can't bring himself to criticize other states, but says MA is filled with people and officials who "don't want to jump off the deep end of the pier" and get things wrong.
Baker gets personal: He wants to see his dad, 91, again. Also, his fav part of the job was meeting with hundreds, thousands of people. "We don't do that anymore. At all! ... We're not going to shake hands anymore, we not going to hug, we're not going to do any of those things."
Baker: "We've gotta do this right, and we've gotta respect this virus - big time."
Sudders: Some state data had a mistake because somebody included the Chelsea Soldiers Home in numbers for MetroWest, which, of course, it's nowhere near. Is being fixed.
Baker: State unemployment system now has 850 virtual call-center employees, up from 50 in the Before Times.
Baker opposes the Orange One's immigration ban: Doesn't make us any safer.
