Mildly annoying puzzle. I have a two-monitor rig. I use slack, gchat, musicbee, all of which drop notifications on the primary. I am wanting to record screen, but I don't want the notifications. There are a number of reasons recording secondary monitor isn't as good.
There's a proposed hack, but I am doubtful and it's a pain in the ass to try.
Mmmm, to be more clear. 1) Windows 10. 2) The precise problem is that I wish monitor A to be "primary" and monitor B to receive notifications. Solutions that involve making B primary won't quite work.
Note: Changing which monitor is "primary" does not solve my problem. I expressly do not want to record a secondary monitor. The only two solutions are 1) known, turn off/pause notifications, or 2) unknown, make all notifications show up on secondary.
Anyway, there's a possibility of virtual desktops working, but I think my answer is going to be the fallback: just disable notifications. They don't actually add much joy to my life anyway.
Being so famously glass-half-full, let me just say that TIL a bunch of things you can do in your app to make it not really capable of running correctly on a secondary monitor. :)
The most popular fail mode: mount new windows/dialog boxes/apps on the primary monitor regardless of which monitor you are running on.
