Things I Didn& #39;t Get Space For:
1) Natasha Richardson organised a screening at the NFT in the 90s because she thought it was unjustly neglected (she plays a flower-girl at the wedding in the film; Joely Richardson was somewhere in there too).

2) Also in the 90s, at a Telegraph party, I told eminent military historian John Keegan how much I liked his book The Mask of Command & then I added how much I liked this film & he became so angry at the mere mention of it I worried that he was going to have a heart attack.
3) The film& #39;s critics were particularly outraged by Fanny Duberly (played by Jill Bennett) having an affair (including spanking) with Lord Cardigan. They seemed to think it besmirched her honour, even though the real Mrs. Duberly died in 1902. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fanny_Duberly">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fann...
