Despite it being against my brand I do think there's probably a lens through which I might enjoy the 91-95 Heisei films. I just haven't found it yet. I think I'm still reeling over the shock of "THESE ARE WHAT YOU GUYS WERE OBSESSED WITH?"

There's a hard to articulate kind of aesthetic going on. I get very hung up on Kawakita's effects work being so bad and the scripts being very clunky. I enjoy parts of the 91-95 films but often have a hard time enjoying them completely.
