Today I will be reporting from the #reopenmissouri protest at the State Capitol. Stay tuned for live updates.
“Fear controls the mind.” I just spoke with three women protesting today who say the stay-at-home order is a way for politicians to force Americans to become reliant on the government.
“I have no fear of catching this virus, and if I do, so be it,” says Katie Feldmann, who is here protesting with her children.
“The governor stopping us from going to church is a violation of the First Amendment,” says Steve Bishop, who is attending the protest with his family.
Dr. Jim Neely “We the people.” Representative Dr. Jim Neely, @Mizzou alum and former @NFL player Steven Martin and a protestor discuss why coming together is imperative.
“We’re fighting for our constitutional rights and our freedoms. We are the governed, and we haven’t consented to this,” protestor Zina Hackworth says.
“You quarantine the sick. You don’t quarantine the healthy!” @SuperDaveShow says before introducing Rep. Dr. Jim Neely to speak. (Sorry for the poor quality photo, I want to distance myself from the crowd.)
While some are congregating in protest, others are staying in their cars and driving around the Capitol to make a statement.
Man in the Mizzou shirt made several jokes about having a contagious cough and being sick. Protesters around him repeatedly tell him to leave.
Another sign from the protest.
“We will no longer allow the idea that people coming together is more dangerous than people staying apart,” Steven Martin says.
Samantha Smith, mother of two says, “This is not about the Coronavirus. This is about our constitutional rights.”
The protesters have now marched to @GovParsonMO’s mansion.
