I have mixed feelings over this...as usual, I can see both sides. I suppose it depends on what your criteria and reasoning are for reopening. Some want no virus exposure or deaths at all, some want to get back to work to feed their families. Both have valid reasons. https://twitter.com/cbs46/status/1252568269040615433
If the goal is to eradicate the virus before reopening, it will be a year at best before we can go back to "normal". If the goal is to not overwhelm the hospitals, and do rolling exposures then reopening like this makes sense.
I don't know of a scenario where everyone is happy. This virus has pitted people with a steady income and are comfortable with staying home indefinitely against people that are facing poverty and losing everything they have worked for.
And going forward if one death is too high a price to pay, do we start to lock down states for every contagious virus that could kill people?
Anyway, I don't know if Kemps plan is going to be successful. But, our latest numbers in GA show we are definitely on a downward trend...
I would probably feel more comfortable with people taking antibodies tests to know how far it has spread asymptomaticly and then reopen accordingly. But we don't have that ability yet, so here we are, making the best choices we can given these all or nothing options.
