"Those containment efforts early was just too contagious," said Matt Richardson.
"We can't know for certain if they got it at Best Buy, at Mcdonald's at a drive thru - we just can't know for certain because of the local transmission," said Richardson.
"We do anticipate that with a loosening of a Stay at Home Order social interactions are going to increase the cases," said Richardson.
"Everyone recognizes society has to function and the economy has to function," said Richardson.
"I think it's very important that people still practice their own judgement," says Andy Eads, County Judge
"If COVID-19 started to infect as many people as the flu that's been our greatest fear," says Richardson.
"The fatality rate is 10x or maybe more in many cases deadlier [than the flu]," says Richardson.
"Note that there has been a lot discussion of over reporting of COVID-19," says Richardson.
"I don't think that has been the case... certainly not in Denton Co. and in Texas," says Richardson.
"Those over the age of 60 and those showing signs of symptoms and get tested, we know for sure they have COVID-19," says Richardson.
"We also want to preserve essential functions... those working for healthcare, businesses... or those who have been exposed to known cases," says Richardson.
"First responders, we need to preserve them so again, we can function," says Richardson.
"We have considered twice a week testing. One for healthcare, fire, police, first responders... and then the general public," says Richardson.
"We do have dollars earmarked for the staffing," says Richardson.
"Limiting the droplet spread is very important," says Richardson.
"That physical distancing is very important as we loosen the stay at home orders," says Richardson.
"A face covering can be effective," says Richardson.
"Covering your mouth and nose is very important," says Richardson.
"Antibody testing is still not where we want it to be," says Richardson.
"False positives would be bad in antibody tests," says Richardson.
"We do not think they [antibody tests] are diagnostic," says Richardson.
"Testing is a big issue not only here in Denton Co. but all across the state of Texas," says Andy Eads, County Judge
"We're constantly tracking the testing conversation," says Eads.
"It's really been a team effort but testing has been a challenge," says Eads.
