To make sure your intentions are in the right place, a few days before Ramadan, take the time to list the sins you want to stop doing and the good deeds you want to take up (even after Ramadan), make Ghusl the night before and maybe even make a schedule.
Iâve included a rough guide down below. This way you can pace yourself, do something different everyday and in sha Allah increase your good deeds in the last 10 days. This schedule suits a night-owl but if youâre an early bird, you can always adjust it.
I would suggest planning your days around the prayer times, that way you can ensure you are praying on time. You could include a plan on what you want to eat for iftar and suhoor so you donât overeat and get lazy.
PART B: INCREASING YOUR KNOWLEDGE

The Prophet (PBUH) said: âWhoever follows a path in pursuit of knowledge, Allah makes his way easy to paradise.â (Bukhari)
There is no doubt that increasing your islamic knowledge is important for Ramadan and beyond.

Alot of people have been stressing to finish reading the Quran once, twice or several times throughout Ramadan. Although we can recognise the importance of reciting the Quran, understanding the words of Allah (SWT) will provide great benefit of you getting closer to Allah (SWT).
There are many apps out there that can help, but one in particular that I found that is useful is Quran Progress. It focuses on words that come up in the Quran more frequently and uses spaced repetition to help you memorise the meanings of key words. Itâs only ÂŁ2.99 a month!!
If you are a visual learner this could work for you! Merciful Servant and the ProphetsPath have really good videos on their channels and have series on a range of topics. IslamicGuidance have many videos on the Sahaba but unfortunately they are not collated into a playlist.
Here is the Prophets Series and the Jinn Series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAuCSfBNMNo&list=PLyfPcUoivAtYHdYV8EA95E6F6AR5xej8p">https://www.youtube.com/watch... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYtc1KASfLg&list=PLyfPcUoivAtYLK6aIirYy65RieY1kCwBk">https://www.youtube.com/watch...
Another useful app is the Prophetic Sayings app. This app gives you sayings of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) daily and you can do you daily athkaar on it aswell.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic a lot of Islamic courses have been put online for free. Iâve listed a few below but if you know of any more please link them below.
Memorising the meanings of the phrases you say within your prayer helps with increasing Khushu (concentration) within your prayer. Also by understanding why we say certain phrases can help aswell. Here are some more tips on Khushu on this thread: https://twitter.com/errrmaryam/status/1250149352720478208?s=21">https://twitter.com/errrmarya...
PART C: PUTTING YOUR KNOWLEDGE INTO ACTION

âAnd it will be cried out to them: This is the Paradise you have inherited for what you used to do!" [Al-Qur& #39;an 7:43]

ShareTheMeal is an app where you can feed a child for a day for as little as 35p. If you give 35p a day and it falls on Laylatul Qadr itâs as if you have given away ÂŁ10,500 in charity!!
If you want to increase your charity in the last 10 days and you are worried you might forget, this website allows you to automate your charity on the odd nights or all of the last 10 nights to a charity of your choice.
Try to incorporate more sunnah prayers throughout the day. To keep up with your fardh prayers it may be useful to keep a prayer diary and in sha Allah you can continue to use it after Ramadan. Also, sisters there is an option to record the times when you are unable to pray.
Surah Ikhlas - Al-Bukhaari (6643) The Messenger of Allaah (PBUH) said: âBy the One in Whose hand is my soul, it is equivalent to one-third of the Qurâaan.â Make sure to recite it several times a day! Also try to memorise an ayah a day of a new surah e.g. Surah Mulk (30 ayahs).
Try to increase the Dhikr that you do and learn what they mean. Here is the PDF version: https://www.muslim-mums.co.uk/dhikr%20for%20reward.pdf">https://www.muslim-mums.co.uk/dhikr%20f...
You could try to do something nice everyday. I saw this on the tl earlier and thought it may help those of you struggling when trying to find things to do. Also replace music with insightful podcasts- a favourite of mine is Freshly Grounded (available on the podcast app).
Try to limit the time you spend on things that do not benefit your Imaan. It may be hard switching from watching several episodes of Netflix a day to spending time doing other things. Limit yourself using ScreenTime and to one or two episodes a day (at first).
If you think you might struggle to keep yourself on top of your schedule, ask a friend or a family member to check up on your progress. Maybe even read Quran together as a family. If your a black muslim girl, you can join this programme!
Make sure to help out in the kitchen (especially the men). Your mum is fasting too, she is just as tired as you. Even if your mum says she doesnât need any help, just stay in the kitchen and keep her company! (And sheâll probably find something for you to do eventually)
If youâre feeling a bit more active, the Muslim Council of Britain have listed all the organisations that are looking for volunteers to help out the elderly and vulnerable in your local community. You can deliver groceries and help out those in need! https://mcb.org.uk/covid-volunteer-initiatives/">https://mcb.org.uk/covid-vol...
Last point- Donât feel discouraged if your friends are able to finish the Quran quicker than you, you are going through your own journey to become closer to Allah (SWT)- pace yourself. However, still treat this Ramadan as if itâs your last, you are not guaranteed another one
