Protip: if you are in the habit of inserting logic between a trigger and a response, take a moment to physically reset as well--roll back in your chair, stretch, walk around. I had a session with executive coach Brooks Fisher yesterday in which he gave me this trick.
What I realized is that I have played enough poker to train myself *out* of making any physical response to triggers, even things like breathing and heart-rate changes. If I'm in a business conversation I don't have the same constraints.
