I'll be talking about three things

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬

There is a "spectrum" of top/bottom preferences. Some people are right in the middle and are switch stans. Some are on the far edges. And some are somewhere in between.

People tend to judge top/bottom preferences by looks, their interpretation (key word!)

of tae's and guk's personalities and relationship. And finally, what they find the hottest as these preferences are this is mostly only relevant when talking about smut. Although, top/bottom undertones can be found throughout many fics, artworks, comics etc.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠?

The debate is a thing bc people don't have the same opinions. Some people may view guk as the member's baby + think he's too cute to be a top. Some people think that he could maybe be a bottom (also) for others but not tae as their relationship

doesn't give that vibe at all. Some people think that guk is so hot and tae is so cute that it would be impossible for tae to top.

There has been a noticeable increase in people preferring top tae, so the discussion has only grown hotter when writers don't tag but still

write top tae/top kook/switching anyways. I personally don't understand top tae all, but that's bc I don't find it hot, and I feel like it conflicts with MY interpretation (keyword again!) of Tae's personality. But I understand that some people have changed their minds or have

opposite preferences to me, and honestly? idc

I honestly think that the only time people get annoyed or disappointed is when they read aus and it happens.

Aus and fanfics, at least for me, are an escape and something I put time and energy into reading, writing + supporting.

It's for our (and the writer's) entertainment. So, imagine if every time you read a bts fic that seems like it was taekook but it ended up with jikook endgame. That's what it feels like.

I think that if people had these discussions offline, we would understand each other better

,but people get brave behind a screen and can't see that they're being unreasonable. Equally, small criticisms can be taken the wrong way and arguments can go on for no reason.

This is why I think some people can take it too far.

Lastly, real-world relationships have nothing to do w this as aus are for entertainment purposes. They are meant to be fun to read. So, if someone is bothered by preference, as a writer (I am a writer btw) we are obliged to listen and add tags, even if it seems ridiculous.

Think about p*rn, it's for your entertainment, if you don't like it then you have no reason to explain yourself. But bc we're in the same fandom + talk more, people want to express their feelings so it becomes a big mess when people should simply say oh, ok, and leave it at that.

That's where tagging comes in. It's a solution and I want everyone to acknowledge it!

- I've had people criticise me for my writing preferences and idc, but if they ask me to tag, I will sure as hell tag
- people overestimate how much others care about this, being disappointed or annoyed does not mean that the person

is crying over it so stop being patronising.
- we all like the same ship, yes, but pls stop discussing this with strangers w different opinions to you
- if someone feels uncomfortable (e.g. in a gc) + everyone has a preference towards 1 way, they're not a drama queen for leaving

Before you all say something rude and try to cancel me, pls look within yourself and realise that just bc your disagree, doesn't mean the other person is wrong or dumb or deserves hate for explaining something online. Some of y'all are nasty, but I'm gonna try to ignore that
