one of my favorite things about Amílcar Cabral is that whenever he was asked if he was a Marxist/Marxist-Leninist his answer was always some variation of "why do white ppl care about that so much, stop asking, what matters is that my theory works in practice & it helps my ppl."
"Never again do we want to see a group or a class of people exploiting or dominating the work of our people. That& #39;s our basis. If you want to call it Marxism, you may call it Marxism. That& #39;s your responsibility." A journalist once asked me: & #39;Mr. Cabral, are you a Marxist?& #39;"
"Is Marxism a religion? I am a freedom fighter in my country. You must judge from what I do in practice. If you decide that it& #39;s Marxism, tell everyone that it is Marxism. If you decide it& #39;s not Marxism, tell them it& #39;s not Marxism."
"But the labels are your affair; we don& #39;t like those kind of labels. People here [Europe] are very preoccupied with the questions: are you Marxist or not Marxist? Are you Marxist·Leninist? Just ask me, please, whether we are doing well in the field."
