Anything that blurs the difference helps the GOP. Biden is such a weak general election candidate because he is not Trump’s opposite in any meaningful way, certainly not like Bernie is. All of Trump’s sins are reflected in Biden in some lesser version. And that hurts narratively.

Can anyone imagine the reaction from the exact same centrist chatterers if Steven Mnuchin and Louise Linton had made the exact same video as Pelosi, shot for shot and line for line?
