A very hot unpopular take but a deeply personal one: I know Rise of Skywalker isn't the most loved Star War on this hellsite but the film did actually nudge me out of a depression that had been stalking me for months. My husband and mum can attest to this. https://twitter.com/controverSW/status/1252586448743776256
I absolutely acknowledge that the film had the opposite effect on many others and, honestly, you have my sympathy (depression sucks). But I'm very glad I got that film right when I needed it, that's all I'm saying.
I honestly don't know HOW it did that or why it uplifted me so much, but it did and that's good enough for me. Similarly, AOTC came at a similarly dark time and gave me the nudge I needed to finish my degree and, well, keep on going. Funny how these things work.
Maybe one day I'll write about all this in greater depth since this thread was just a random stream of consciousness that came out of nowhere (slow afternoon at work). We'll see.
